Why is sleep so important to weight loss?
Everything I read it seems as if sleeping 8 hours every night can help with weight loss. Why is this?

Rest is important because you want your muscles to rest and plus the less sleep you get your cortisol levels will rise and that will make you gain weight..
It is true that the less sleep you get, the more your cortisol system gets screwed up, which raises your blood sugar, and your blood pressure, and all sorts of other things besides weight gain.
The reason is that the higher cortisol caused by the stress of not getting enough sleep messes with your insulin level. It’s the raised blood sugar caused by the messed up insulin level that actually interferes with weight loss.
