Teenager Who Can’t Stay Awake – Rare Sleep Disorder
Fox News Channel 10 (Phoenix) story about teenager Brendan, 19, who sleeps 12-16 hours at a time, and is asleep more than he’s awake. Doctors struggle to figure out why. Sleep doctor Michael Breus comments on how sleep disorders are on the rise, and says there are between 85-88 identified sleep disorders at the time of this news story. Many of these disorders are mysterious, and doctors are still struggling to understand and treat them. In a nation where 1 out of 3 Americans are sleep-deprived and stay awake longer than they should, Brendan’s sleep disorder is rare.

you need some adderal, caffeine or maybe an illeagle alternative stimulants FTW.
heh tha alot, i normally sleep 5-8 hours, sometimes ofc 10-11, but not even everymonth
well its not weird, some people need more sleep than others.

i had kept me awake with coffee and coffee beans, energy drink and ofc mental powers
trust me it didnt feel good
i heard that people should not stay awake for 48 hours or more.
but its not weird to be tired not sleeping on 12 hours, its normal.
ps: sry for my bad english and spelling,
my god, he is easier to wake up than i am, but at least once im awake, i dont normaly fall asleep again, but its good to know that im not the only one that could sleep through a nuclear explosion
It’s definitely true, teens are experiencing nowadays a sleeping disorder. I would recommend you to visit Symposier site and learn about the 3rd WASM World Congress that talks about sleeping disorder and related thing.
he has klein levin syndrome! i was diagnosed with it a few years ago. less than 500 people are disgnosed with it, but that is what it is. i slept for 7.5 days straight last summer.
i got to bed at 2am and wake up at 9 pm
I need a lot of sleep, well a lot of hours of sleep. I suspect I am not getting good sleep. This bs has caused me to feel broken somehow, less than my fellow man who could get up in the morning and function at work. I dunno, so much more I want to say but it’s all ramblings. This is a HUGE piece of the puzzle for me. Thanks Universe.
And along the way I’ve tried everything from sleep aids, melatonin, establishing a pattern of sleep for the body. I tried so hard because everyone else said I just had to try harder and then I wouldn’t need 12 full hours of sleep per night to feel rested… they also said I needed to focus at work and be productive. So far I’ve tried so fing hard but bombed completely at “normal life”. Grrr… Mad there is no info or study group for peeps like me.
I believe his body produces too much melatonin.
his mom sounds stupid, sounds shity, he stuck on sleep mode
@aimeeslong wow :O
it’s klein levin syndrome, obviously
i havnt gotten asleep for about 27 hours now and i just dont feel tired a single bit but oh well sumtimes i get like 1 hours sleep a day and then stay awake for like 21 hours
I’m almost certain he has Kleine-Levin Syndrome (KLS)! I too, have KLS and I participated in a documentary about my illness. It aired about a year ago. If you’d like to see it click on my page!
this is honestly exactly like me. I sleep 18 hours a day sometimes even more. My body feels like I need the sleep. Countless sleep tests show no anwser, blood work, medication such as adderall shows no signs of helping. Doctors have no clue where to go from here. I hit REM sleep in under a minute but it takes me 12 minutes to fall asleep on average. For everyone who has the same problem they could understand that it is hard to live a normal life and have others understand you. Anyone got advice
@lizmr98 , this is not a joke. Smoke some weed. Im not tryin to be funny. ive done it off and on in my past a fair share and in those times i would go 3 or 4 months with smoking it and then get bored with the experience and just up and cold turkey stop and go 3 or 4 months without smoking it and then end up repeating the cycle
back then the months i wasnt smoking i would be awake from anywhere 3 to 6 am and sleep for the minimum of twelve {12} hours a night. Back then that type of sleep scheduel didnt effect my life in towards me being productive or any othr probs. but now im not smoking again and its been about 3 weeks and the earliest ive gone to sleep since is 5am. and as we all know {bad sleep} conflicts with our lives
So im now taking into consideration of applying for medicinal marijuana. Maybe u should think about it. Im not tryin to promote drug use im just speaking on behalf of my own experiences. And for anyone wanting to know : If you are gonna smoke weed for your own health , a Vaperizer is the SAFEST & CLEANEST way to smoke cannabis. Weed does have positive medical attributes but Regardless of the Source, if SMOKE touches your lungs it IS bad.
Ouh that’s too bad:(
At least you’re hot!
Did you learn anything more about it? I’m in the same boat!
why the hell did u bother writeing all of that into 3 comments why not just simply PM it?
