memory loss and loss of thinking abilities from sleep deprivation?

I lost my short term memory and thinking abilities from prolonged sleep deprivation. What can I do to restore my brain’s original state? Did I already do damage to my cognitive functions? It is irreversable?

Help with curing deep sleep disorder in my 8yo son.?

My Son has a deep sleep disorder which means he spends most of his sleep cycle in very deep sleep. This reduces the amount of oxygen to his brain, gives his body a great relax and boost of energy but does not rest his brain, so he is mentally tired and finds it difficult to concentratete and to control all the extra energy his body has. Does any one have experience with dealing with this?

I have problems sleeping at night, what can i do to help me sleep better?

I get up for work at 5:30am and cant fall asleep at night until 1 or 2 in the morning, i get fed up with it and have started taking sleeping pills but i dont want to have to take them just to fall asleep. i know one thing is i have a hard time shutting my brain down, any ideas?

Can sleep deprivation help in a weird way?

Sleep deprivation has been known to cause hallucinations, and basically make, said person, go insane..after 70hrs without sleep a person’s brain will shut itself down in attempts to "recharge" itself, while the person is still awake, making it difficult for someone to distinguish what’s real and what’s not. So the question is, would pushing yourself to the edge of insanity bring some "enlightenment" to a person if they were to attempt it? A better understanding of what being "insane" is really like, possibly?

How does sleep deprivation cause a lack of energy?

In terms of physiology and biochemistry, why does a lack of sleep cause a lack of energy?

Yes the body and brain need time to rest and recuperate, but how exactly is this related to energy?

              sleep disorder?

every so often while i am sleeping i jerk awake.

when i say jerk awake i mean really jerk. from a dead sleep i will snap up, mostly my head, like im startled. i will go from being sound asleep to completely awake. this happens like a reflex, my body doesnt come up much, its not like im getting up, my head snaps and turns like someone has come up and grabbed my shoulder and startled me. this happens so suddenly that i get whiplash from it. theres also a kind of sound inside my head like a "kink", i guess where my brain is getting jolted so hard and also a flash of light inside my head. anyone ever had this happen or have this diagnosed.

every once in a while i will take a quick breath in between breathes while i am awake, again, something i couldnt duplicate if i wanted to, but a reflexive response. dont know if they are related.
